Bringing small amounts of such things as washing machine powder will save you having to buy and carry home a box full. It's worth packing some tea-bags if you prefer 'ordinary' tea as we do. Guests with babies may wish to bring baby food, as we understand that French baby food has a high sugar/salt content. If you're flying don't forget that shop opening hours are not as long as they are in the UK, and you may have to shop en-route.
