Our gites are set in our 1/2 acre garden in our traditional Breton longére on the edge of a small rural hamlet in sunny South Brittany, 6 miles from the sea, near beaches, Vannes, Rochefort-en-Terre and other main tourist sites. The kitchen dining room in Le Vieux Chene is very light and bright, with a high ceiling and a view over the courtyard garden from the dining area. There's a pine fitted kitchen with gas oven and hob with extractor, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, filter coffee maker, toaster, and ample crockery, cutlery, and utensils. Iron, ironing board and airing stand. Powerful electric fan, hair dryer. Efficient log burner and elecric background heating. Smoke alarm, fire extinguisher, fire blanket; electric sockets are child shielded throughout the gite. Lounge 4m X 3m If you are using the sofa bed, the lounge can be separated from the kitchen/dining area by 2.3m wide folding doors. This is fine during the summer when our guests spend a lot of their time outdoors, but not during the winter except for couples who have mobility difficulties and need all the facilities on one level. Comfortable double clic-clac sofa bed, wardrobe/cupboard, easy chairs etc. British and French television, video recorder, DVD player. Electric heating. The view over the terrace, and garden, is especially pleasant in the evening when the setting sun shines through the trees. Conservatory 3.8m X 2.1m, Furnished with easy chairs with a view over the courtyard, barn, garden and 200 year old oak tree (where you can spot tree creepers and woodpeckers). Shower room/WC with 90cm X 90cm shower with handrail and seat, washbasin and WC. Separate small room with automatic washing machine. First floor (with stairgate and smoke alarm): Bedroom one 4m X 3m. Double bed, wardrobe, bedside drawers and chair. Window overlooking garden. A cot is available free on prior request (as are high chair and baby bath). Bedroom two5m X 3.4m. Twin single beds (apart or together) and two pull out occasional beds suitable for children up to twelve years old. Velux window overlooking garden with an insect blind. Electric heating. Honeysuckle scents the summer air and competes with hortensias and camelias as it tumbles over the stone wall on the Terrace with barbeque, outdoor dining furniture with parasol, and sun loungers. Shared use with the other guests of the very large hedged sunny garden with oak, cherry, apple, pear and peach trees, courtyard and separate area for energetic games. Boules piste, swings, and outdoor table tennis.
Bedlinen is provided. In order for guests to enjoy a relaxed journey, visit locations on the way, or take advantage of cheaper daytime ferry crossings, we will welcome arrivals late at night provided we are told beforehand. We will also consider shorter stays and non Saturday arrival stays outside high season - please ask. We live in another house on the premises and we're available should our advice or assistance be required.
Impaired mobility? The ceramic tiled ground floor of this gite is on one level (Kitchen/diner/bedroom 3/conservatory/shower/WC). Large doors give easy access, the large shower has a seat and handrail, and all taps are single lever operated. A ramp can be provided to negotiate the shallow step at the entrance- but ask our advice.Occupancy- Our gite is comfortable and spacious for two couples with up to two young children using the occasional beds, or a couple with up to four children (2 of them under 12), using the first floor bedrooms at any time of year. The lounge can be used as a bedroom for a further two adults during the summer months only - Please ask our advice. There's no smoking in our gites, but in Le Vieux Chene, we allow smoking in the conservatory.
Our local village, Noyal Muzillac, is under 1.5 miles away and has a baker, general store, post office, pharmacy, restaurants and cafés. The surrounding minor roads are quiet, fairly level and suitable for cycling or walking. There is a Friday market, shops and supermarkets at Muzillac, 4.5 miles, or at Questembert, 5.5 miles (Monday market), and hypermarkets and city shopping at Vannes (25 minutes)
The nearest beach is just 12 minutes away, at Pen Lan, it's just 17 minutes to the popular resort of Damgan and many other beaches and resorts in the area offer a wide range of attractions.
